Exercise of the Month:
Cardio Blast/High-Intensity Interval Training/Tabata Training
Every month, I share with you an exercise for building strength or working your core. This month, I’m sharing a cardio workout that will increase your energy and torch fat cells. Plus, the exercise only takes minimal time. Anytime, anywhere, this exercise is a great go-to!
You can add this exercise onto your walk, run or game of tennis. You can also do it right before you get into the shower or just try the exercise on its own.
The more rounds you do, the harder it will be. Beginners, do two rounds of 10 reps each. If you’re at an intermediate level, do three rounds of 15 reps each. If you’re advanced, do six rounds of 20 reps each.
Here’s how it goes:
- Walk in place
- Do jumping jacks
- Walk in place
- Do jump squats
- Walk in place
- Do high knees

What a BeFit SRQ Client Has to Say
I have been working out with Michele now for one month, once a week for only half an hour. I don’t supplement this with a lot of other exercise like I should but I am already seeing results! She is a pleasure to work with and the studio space is so open and light! A great way to start the day and very competitively priced.

Understanding Your Body
It’s critical to understand the factors that affect our sensitivity to insulin.
Sensitivity to insulin is critical to our body’s ability to use glucose for energy to perform bodily functions. It’s also critical for us to store glucose as glycogen in our muscles and liver for future use.
Body composition can play a role in how sensitive we are to insulin, specifically in regard to muscle mass. Muscle tissue is “expensive” in terms of energy need – it requires more glucose to sustain it. That’s why muscle is a major consumer of our blood glucose.
The more muscle tissue we have, the more blood glucose can be used for energy or stored in our muscles as glycogen for later use. When we have a lower percentage of muscle tissue, our body has a limited ability to remove excess glucose from the blood to use as energy.
Factors like this reveal why it’s important to know your body composition. Be in the know: Schedule a body composition assessment today with BeFit SRQ’s innovative InBody 570.
