Fall is an incredible time of year, it is no wonder that it’s a favorite of many. This time of year is filled with beautiful weather, traditions, and the beginning of the holiday season.
As you enjoy apple treats, try pumpkin everything, and near the holidays, health goals can be hard to maintain. At BeFit SRQ, we’re here to help you stay on track. Our hands-on services in studio and the tips shared below will help you continue your wellness journey throughout your fall fun.
Exercise of the Month
Decreasing body fat levels is a goal that many of us share, and it is especially important to keep in mind as we enter the season of relaxing and indulging with family and friends. When we carry less fat, we feel better, have more energy, and are at a lower risk for various health challenges. One type of fat, called visceral fat, is a large health concern as it can lead to conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and more.
How can you determine if you’re carrying visceral fat? This type of fat is found in the abdominal area. If you’ve found yourself with a stomach that sticks outward, or a large waist, visceral fat may be the culprit. Another sign may be that the areas of concern are harder, and not as easy to pinch as other areas of fat on your body.
Luckily, there are many ways to lose visceral fat, as well as to prevent it from returning in the future. To lose visceral fat, you can try any number of the following:
- Eat Fewer Carbs
- Try the Ketogenic Diet
- Eat More Soluble Fiber
- Increase your Protein Intake
- Consume Less Sugar and Alcohol
- Stay Away from Trans Fat
- Consider Intermittent Fasting
- Try Aerobic Exercise
- Sleep More
- Stress Less
- Take a Good Probiotic

Delicious, Yet Healthy Meals To Share
As colder weather moves in and the Holidays creep closer, it can feel difficult to stay on track with healthy eating. When you gather with your friends and family this fall, consider bringing this nutritious dish to turn veggies into a tasty priority.
Broccoli and Brussel Sprouts Slaw

- Half a cup of pitted olives
- A quarter cup of olive oil
- A quarter cup of almonds, unsalted and roasted
- Half an ounce of fresh, grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 anchovy fillets (optional)
Begin by thinly slice broccoli and brussels, and combine the vegetables in a large bowl with ½ teaspoon of salt. Chop and mash anchovies, if they are being used. Combine anchovies and liquid ingredients in a small bowl, and season them with salt and pepper. Once combined, pour the liquid mixture over the vegetables and toss.
