 Exercise of the Month

As you spend more time exercising on your own at home, it is beneficial to dive into some heart rate talk. It’s important to keep your heart rate at a healthy, yet effective number while you work out. Your ideal heart rate range depends on your age and the exercise level you’re currently at (beginner, intermediate, or advanced).

Check out this helpful chart to see where your heart rate should be while you’re exercising:

You can measure your heart rate by pressing your fingers to a pulse point (your inner wrist or the upper corner of your neck are great options) and count the heartbeats you hear. Count for ten seconds or one full minute, and compare your number to the chart above.

 Get Active Outside

We’ve been staying home for weeks, but it looks like the end of quarantine is finally in sight. Consider getting some fresh air and moving your body at the following beautiful (and now open) outdoor sites:
Take a Walk Over the Ringling Bridge
Walking this bridge back and forth will give you one full mile of movement, and it’s filled with breathtaking sites. Extend your walk/run through Bayfront Park while taking in the gorgeous boats at Marina Jacks.

Spend Some Time at Siesta Key
The number one beach in the nation has opened back up! Get some sun and fresh air as you visit this incredible stretch of sand.
There are still some restrictions you’ll need to follow, such as no coolers, umbrellas, or chairs, but it’s still a great place for a walk or jog.
View the complete list of current restrictions at Siesta Key here.

Check Out the Progress at the Up-and-Coming Bayfront
We’re all looking forward to what the new Bayfront will bring. They’ve recently begun construction on one of their three main developments, a Mangrove Bayou walkway. Imagine the walks and jogs we’ll be able to take once it’s finished!
See more about the Bayfront’s plans and progress here.

You’re likely still spending the majority of your time at home, but you can still prioritize your health. Remember that BeFitSRQ is here for you every step of the way.
